Neptūnas Klaipėda officially responded to LKL's decision to impose sanctions after the heated match in Klaipėda. The club values LKL, supported by Betsson, and strives to ensure safety in arenas and does not tolerate any aggressive fan behavior. Neptūnas notes that during and after the game, they took all necessary safety measures, cooperating with security services and responsible institutions. However, the incident occurred after the game, when emotions between different fan groups exceeded sports boundaries. The club apologizes for the situation and emphasizes that such incidents harm the basketball atmosphere, Klaipėda city, and the entire league's image. 'Our goal is for the Švyturio arena to remain a place where families, children, and all basketball fans can safely enjoy the game. We will cooperate with LKL and safety partners to prevent similar situations in the future,' said Neptūnas director Martynas Mažeika. The club also apologizes and acknowledges that they could have anticipated potential safety threats when playing against Kauno Žalgiris. It is also important to mention the social media videos showing club ambassador Naglis Kanišauskas at the incident scene. Many know that Naglis is a fighter, but outside the ring, he has always been known as a calm, respectful, and community-minded person. Having noticed the conflict and the distress of children and women nearby, he reacted instinctively – aiming to protect the surroundings, separate the conflicting parties, and help to quickly calm down the situation. It is essential to emphasize that Naglis did not intend to cause any harm or incite violence. His actions were directed towards stabilizing the situation and ensuring the safety of those around him. Once again, we emphasize that Neptūnas Basketball Club is against any forms of violence and will strive to avoid such incidents in the future.
